First Pick of the Season!
Some coops can be really expensive, or dont fit into your families life style. It’s still really important to eat healthy, and as natural and organic as you can…
This year my husband and I decided to try gardening. We started off with some easy things, like peppers and herbs. Herbs can be really expensive in the store, but they grow easily in our kitchen or your back yard. You just clip them with scissors as you need them, and best part is they just keep growing and growing!
The peppers photographed at the top of this post are banana peppers and are my first pick this spring. They grew really fast, and came out before anything else. The habaneros are coming in and I have a few bell pepper plants that seem to be a little slow.
The herbs we picked were herbs we knew we would use in food and drink recipes. We chose cilantro, apple mint, and basil. Mmmm basil!
We bought our garden boxes on Craigslist. I had a guy custom make them. And then I bought the plants at Walmart. They were already started which makes it easier to grow. Starting from a seed is rewarding but very hard work. It’s much easier to transplant from the store to your garden bed.
I hope you try gardening this year… It’s never the wrong season and never too late. I recommend this book. It will guide you through each month. What to plant, harvest, and so much more!
